Gonorrhea - InTray™ GC
Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a bacterium that can grow and multiply in the reproductive tract. According to the Center for Disease Control, more than 700,000 people in the United States get new gonorrheal infections each year. If gonorrhea goes untreated, it can cause serious and permanent health problems.
A large number of men and women who have gonorrhea show no symptoms at all. When they are present, symptoms can include a burning sensation when urinating, and, in men, a discharge from the penis or painful, swollen testicles, and in women, increased vaginal discharge.
The InTrayTM GC test provides a safe and easy way to test for the presence of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. With its innovative tray design, the InTrayTM GC test provides a favorable CO2 environment for the organism while the specialized media inhibits the growth of contaminants. The InTrayTM design allows for a longer shelf life and the enclosed media surface area provides for a more economical and safer test.
Clinical Advantages of BioMed's InTrayTM GC medium
